In early 2023, I had the privilege of collaborating with the renowned design and animation studio, Antibody. Working with directors Patrick Clair and Raoul Marks, my role involved the development of screen graphics and glitch content for the announcement trailer of Bungie's new IP: Marathon.
Although my role in the project was relatively small, it was an exceptional experience to contribute to the creation of assets within the world of Marathon. I took a deep dive into look development and animation, producing the graphics, interfaces, and AI avatars that would be featured throughout the film.
UI + graphics process
During the process of creating the screen graphics, we had several objectives to achieve. Firstly, we aimed to develop a graphic language that maintained consistency with the art direction of the game while also offering a unique twist since it existed as an interface rather than physical decals within the game world. Another important objective was to find a suitable treatment for the AI avatars that would appear on the screens. Additionally, we had to focus on developing a stylization for the color blocking and glitch effects that would serve as the backdrop for the animations. Throughout the design process, we went through various iterations and experimentation to refine and arrive at the final look.
