DESIGN PROCESS

The brief required a visual language capable of representing sound across multiple contexts. Development focused on generating a range of formal systems that could operate as audio-visual representations, spanning different visual behaviors and applications. Four primary approaches were explored: meshes, fluids, particles, and strings.

The final language combines elements from these explorations, consolidating multiple approaches into a unified system.

A key consideration was defining distinct behavior. String and particle systems are widely used within sound visualization, so the focus shifted toward controlled deformation rather than turbulent motion. The resulting system behaves as if suspended within a fluid medium, with forms that swirl, compress, and respond to audio input in a continuous and physically coherent way.
